Fender Player Plus Active Precision Bass Pau Ferro Fingerboard 3-Color Sunburst
Solidbody Electric Bass With Maple Neck and Pau Ferro Fretboard, Two Single-Coil Pickups and 3-Band Active EQ
The Fender Player Plus Precision Bass is an accessible update to an instrument that has stood the test of time. Since its introduction in 1951, the P Bass has been seen in the hands of players like Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, Sting, Duff McKagan from Guns N’ Roses and Stax Records great Donald "Duck" Dunn. We love the Precision for the same reasons they do—the warm, unmistakable sound lays a solid foundation like no other. The Player Plus P Bass adds pro-level features like Noiseless pickups, rolled fingerboard edges and a 3-band active EQ. There's more than meets the eye on this bass, though. Keep reading to discover why all of us at Musician's Friend are pumped about the Player Plus.
It's all about the neck
The neck profile on this P Bass is a Modern C which is easier to navigate than a vintage model. We also appreciated the flatter, 12" radius fretboard with rounded edges—it's a comfortable combo.
Bass sounds that are beyond basic
Fender made its first foray into Noiseless pickups in 1998. This Precision Bass comes with the fourth generation. A Noiseless Jazz Bass single coil sits in the bridge position; the neck position has a hum-cancelling split-coil P Bass pickup. The P/J combination give you the best of both worlds with a deep low-end, clear highs, plus a warm mid-range growl. We like how simple it is to sculpt the sound with the 3-band active EQ. If you want passive play, just flip the switch to bypass the EQ altogether.
The P Bass has a body that just won't quit
In 1954, the Precision Bass was updated with arm and body contours that matched the Stratocaster. The Player Plus P Bass incorporates both, so you won't feel a thick piece of alder burrowing into your ribcage. The double-horn design balances the bass and offers greater access to the upper frets for high octave runs.
Hardware that locks in the low end
A hefty HiMass bridge provides a solid string-to-body connection, making the Player Plus Precision particularly resonant. We're suckers for Fender's open-gear paddle tuners, too. They're practical, precise and virtually failure-free.
The Player Plus P Bass offers more for less
Add up all of these features, and the Fender Player Plus Precision Bass proves to be a remarkable value for musicians of all skill levels. It comes with a deluxe gig bag.
