Taylor's Master Guitar Designer, Andy Powers, conceived the Builder's Edition to combine Old World aesthetic qualities with the latest Taylor innovations. Drawing inspiration from hundreds of years of orchestral stringed instrument design this version features a torrified Sitka spruce top with solid maple back and sides. The Builder's Edition is essentially Andy's "Director's Cut" edition with additional playing features and a distinct visual aesthetic. The feature set unique to the Builder's Edition 614ce: beveled armrest, beveled "Contour" cutaway with neck heel contouring for clear access to the entire fretboard, Curve Wing bridge, "Silent Satin" finish to alleviate noise from direct contact with the body finish, mother-of-pearl "Scepter" fretboard inlays, silver side dots, inlaid maple body purfling (top and back), and premium Gotoh tuners with 21:1 ratio.
Another key featured is Taylor's innovative V-Class bracing which brings enhanced volume, sustain and "in-tune-ness" to the instrument. Taylor also builds this model keeping in mind that maple is a sustainably-managed North American timber, with efforts in place to propagate maple for future generations of guitar lovers. The 614ce V-Class guitar ships with Taylor Expression System 2 electronics, and comes in a Taylor deluxe hardshell case for optimal fit and protection.
