Ko'olau Ukulele has been making spruce top ukes for over twenty years now, showing ukulele enthusiasts around the world the tonal possibilities on this unique little instrument. If you have ever seen Benny Chong live you will hear what a spruce/rosewood Ko'olau baritone is capable of. This flagship to the Pono line is a more affordable version of that Ko'olau Deluxe. The craftsmanship and tone are right on par with the finest musical instruments being made. This new version also has a side sound port!

Engelmann spruce top, exotic rosewood sides and back, slotted headstock, radius fretboard, and a beautiful gloss finish are some of the things that make this baritone so awesome.

Pono only uses solid woods, only bone nut and saddle. wood bindings, no plastics.  They have a climate controlled factory on the island of Java and diligently aim for perfection on every level. It shows! These are professional instruments made for serious musicians.

The radius fingerboard. It's not an extreme radius, and is hardly noticeable until pointed out. But it surely adds to the comfort of play.

The truss rod advantage. It allows us to fine tune the curvature of the neck perfectly for the best feel and tone and also gives long term stability and adjust-ability.

These new tuners are the Grover Sta-tite 18:1 ratio and are smooth as butter! The newer, higher quality Pono case which has a very protective wooden arched top and now come with latches that lock in. This is a lifetime ukulele and comes with a case to protect just as long. 

The musical quality and reliability of this instrument are top of the line. If you were looking for an epic tenor, this might be just the one.
