The Firebird's Little Sibling

The Royal Global Polaris is the Firebird's little sibling, sharing many of its premium features at an exceptional value. This instrument comes standard with silver-plated keys and gold-plated posts, a feature almost unheard of at this price point. It also includes a left-pinky Ab/Eb lever and an adjustable thumb rest for maximum comfort.

We are particularly fond of the ergonomically designed register key. Its plump, comfortable end prevents you from having to twist your thumb to activate it, making for a more natural and effortless feel.

Manufactured from premium, naturally aged Grenadilla wood, the Polaris features a unique poly-cylindrical bore design that gives it a warm, resonant, and colorful sound with a responsive feel throughout all registers. The Polaris will feel like home to those who prefer more widely used "French" bore clarinets, but with superior intonation.

Performance and Sound

The Polaris has a medium-heavy resistance (7/10), providing a terrific feel and a wide range of color options. It is quite a free-blowing instrument, which allows for everything from a brash, screaming new music or jazz tone to a refined sound for a Brahms sonata or Mozart symphony.

In general, added resistance keeps a clarinet's core focused at louder dynamic ranges, but can provide a smaller dynamic and color palette. A less resistant clarinet typically provides a much wider tonal palette but requires more control from the player. The Polaris balances these qualities expertly.
